Story Behind the Art:

Worldstock is proud to present the original hammocks from San Jacinto Pueblo, an association founded by indigenous tribes, located in Bolivar, Colombia. Generation after generation of artisans, from the village of San Jacinto, pass the technique and legacy of hammock making to their daughters. The base of the economy in the village of San Jacinto is agriculture and handcrafts. The economy has been adversely affected by the Guerrilla conflicts which have been driving tourism away and making extremely difficult to develop the agriculture because of the danger of working in the mountains. The sales of the hammocks contribute directly to the improvement of the lives of 120 women and their dependents, whom at this time are victims of an on going armed conflict (each woman is responsible for about three to four dependents).

The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
