The Story Behind the Art

'The sweet wait refers to the stork bringing the baby we so anxiously wait for, fruit of true love,' says Miguel Mejia before he explains how he crafted this endearing sculpture. 'I used metal sheets for the base and the cloth that holds the baby and wires for the stork's legs, beak and baby's legs and arms. I used galvanized tubes for the stork's body and the plaques from coils for the wings. I made the stork's neck with a bolt and its head from a nut. I used a motorcycle sparkplug for the baby's body.'
