Story behind the item:
Commenting on fine ceramics, Rocio Castillo says, Quality is more important to us than quantity. The Castillo family has many years of experience handcrafting and teaching other artisans in Talavera-style ceramics in Guanajuato, Mexico. Their workshop seeks to preserve this traditional, world-renowned ceramic style. Although true Talavera ceramics are made only in the city of Puebla, the techniques are also practiced by artisans in Guanajuato. Talavera dates from the colonial period when Spanish priests taught indigenous peoples to craft ceramics using Majolica techniques. Over the centuries, Talavera evolved as a style of its own. It takes nearly a week long process to create the Talavera-style ceramics.
The handcrafted nature of this product will produce minor differences in design and sizing. Subtle variations will occur from piece to piece, adding to its unique qualities. Measurements may vary slightly.
